Choosing the right print color option helps your custom packaging look cleaner, more accurate, and easier to produce. At Skyislets, most product pages offer practical print options such as 1 color, 1 color with full background, 2 color, and full color CMYK printing.
For special brand color requirements, we can also support Pantone spot color printing. Pantone printing is usually handled by custom request, so it may not appear as a standard option on every product page.
1 Color Printing
Choose 1 color printing when your design uses one ink color on a white, kraft, clear, or existing material base.
This is a good option for:
- Simple logos
- Repeating logo patterns
- Minimal brand marks
- Clean black, white, or single-color artwork
- Lower-cost custom packaging
This option works well when the design does not cover most of the printable area.
Example:
A black logo pattern printed on white tissue paper, or a single-color logo printed on a kraft paper bag.
1 Color with Full Background
Choose 1 color with full background when one ink color covers most or all of the printable area.
This is different from standard 1 color printing because the ink is used as the background, while the artwork may appear as the unprinted material color or reversed-out design.
This is a good option for:
- Bold branded packaging
- One-color all-over backgrounds
- High ink coverage designs
- Designs where the base material color becomes part of the artwork

2 Color Printing
Choose 2 color printing when your design uses two ink colors.
This may include:
- A two-color logo
- One logo color plus one background color

This is a good middle option when your packaging needs more visual detail but does not require full-color photographic artwork.
Example:
A navy logo with a gold accent pattern, or a pink background with a dark red brand mark.
Full Color Printing: CMYK
Choose full color CMYK printing when your design includes multiple colors, gradients, illustrations, or complex artwork.
CMYK stands for:
- Cyan
- Magenta
- Yellow
- Key / Black
These four process colors are combined during printing to create a wide range of colors.
This option is best for:
- Colorful brand artwork
- Illustrations
- Multi-color patterns
- Seasonal packaging
- Designs with many colors or detailed graphics
Please note that screen colors are usually displayed in RGB, while printed colors are produced using CMYK. Because of this, printed colors may look slightly different from what you see on a phone, tablet, or computer screen.
Pantone Spot Color Printing
Skyislets can also support Pantone spot color printing for projects that require more controlled brand color matching.
Pantone colors are specific ink colors identified by Pantone numbers. They are often used when a brand needs a more consistent color result across packaging, printed materials, or different production runs.
Pantone printing is best for:
- Strict brand color requirements
- Corporate identity packaging
- Premium packaging projects
- Repeat orders that need stronger color consistency

Does White Count as a Color?
It depends on the product and material.
On some white materials, the white area may simply be the unprinted base material. In that case, white may not count as an ink color.
However, if white ink needs to be printed, especially on kraft, clear, dark, or colored materials, it may count as an additional color or require a special print setup.
If your design includes white ink, please contact us before ordering so we can confirm the best production method.
Why Printed Colors May Look Different
A few factors can affect the final printed color:
- Screen colors are shown in RGB, while most printing uses CMYK or Pantone inks.
- Kraft, translucent, glossy, matte, coated, and uncoated materials can change how colors appear.
- Thin materials such as tissue paper may look softer or less saturated after printing.
- Darker materials may reduce color brightness.
- Production proofs help confirm layout, placement, and general print setup, but small color differences can still happen in physical production.
